CSF empowers solo parents through education aid for kids

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Solo parents in this city whose children are currently in Grades 1 to 8 were granted educational assistance by the city government the other day.

Tagged as “Educational Assistance to Solo Parents and their Children,” this newly-established project is the fruit of the efforts of the city government led by Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago. The program was a brainchild of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).

The solo parents were granted with a P2,000 assistance, which will be used for the children’s education expenses.

For the project’s premiere, some 500 solo parents were able to avail of the assistance, and the CSWDO said it hopes for the project to be staged annually so more beneficiaries will be accommodated.

With education being among Santiago’s top priorities, thousands of young Fernandinos have been granted educational assistance, from scholarship and subsidy programs to free college education.
