CSF resumes declogging of drainage, waterways

The city government of San Fernando continued desilting and de-clogging drainage canals and major waterways to prepare for the typhoon season here.

City Engineer Anele David said they are targeting to finish the activity as soon as possible to prevent flooding and overflowing of sewage to roads when heavy rainfalls come.

The CEO plans to conduct the activity in the whole stretch of Mc Arthur Highway prioritizing flood-prone areas like Barangay Sindalan and Barangay Maimpis. This will continue alongside other flood control programs such as clearing, widening, and de-clogging of creeks and public compounds in coordination with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) First District Engineering Office, and Engr. Marni Castro—consultant from the private sector and city’s flood czar.

Further, the CEO is concreting a 600-meter area in the city’s isolation facility where tents are to be mounted and be utilized for isolating COVID-19 suspects, confirmed, and probable cases.
