To further promote and implement the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act or Republic Act 9003 which orders to manage systematically the garbage towards a healthy environment, the City Government of San Fernando headed by Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa’ Santiago through its City Environment and Natural Resources Office conducted an Orientation Meeting on Solid Waste Management to the residents of St. Francis Village held over the weekend.
Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa’ Santiago leads the turn-over ceremony of tri-bike to St. Francis Village during the Orientation Meeting on Solid Waste Management held over the weekend. Joining him are City Councilor BJ Lagman and St. Francis Village Homeowners Association President Rey Baguio.
Personnel from the City Environment and Natural Resources Office discussed the best practices towards zero waste and the various environmental programs and policies being implemented by the local government.
Highlight of the discussion was the proper implementation and importance of Ecological Solid Waste Management. Residents of the said subdivision were taught on the proper segregation and collection of waste.
The said activity also served as venue for the residents to raise their concerns regarding environmental issues.
For his part, Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa’ Santiago said that in order to achieve a green, sustainable and livable city, it must start by protecting and saving the environment.
“Inilalapit natin sa mamamayan ang mga programa ng Syudad na may kinalaman sa kalikasan, upang sila ay magkaroon ng kamalayan sa tamang paglingap sa ating kapaligiran. Dahil naniniwala ako na ang pagkakaroon ng malinis at maayos na lugar ay siyang daan sa tuloy-tuloy na pag-asenso ng Syudad San Fernando,’ Santiago said.
Meanwhile, Santiago together with City Councilor BJ Lagman and St. Francis Village Homeowners Association President Rey Baguio led the turn-over ceremony of tri-bike and grasscutter to the residents of St. Francis Village to help them maintain cleanliness.
