CSFP to create TWG on COVID-19 vaccines

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The city government of San Fernando is eyeing to create a technical working group (TWG) to focus on its COVID-19 vaccination program.

Mayor Edwin Santiago said the primary task of the group is to address concerns and work on the procurement process and prioritization of target populations.

“The idea to form a TWG came in mind after a virtual special general assembly of the League of Cities of the Philippines, wherein we also tackled the roles of local authorities in the COVID-19 vaccination efforts,” Santiago said.

The TWG will be responsible for identifying the priority groups or clusters to be vaccinated first.

It will also be tasked to study which vaccine to procure and identify personnel and facilities that will administer the vaccines.

Meanwhile, the local chief executive said he asked the city government’s financial departments to raise their budget for response, including the initial purchase of vaccines from PhP10 million to around PhP20 million to PhP25 million.

The city government is targeting to vaccinate more than 260,000 Fernandinos against COVID-19.
