MABALACAT CITY — Property developer Delfin Lee of Globe Asiatique wants reconciliation with Pag-IBIG Fund in a move to end the more than four-year legal feud between them.
“You’re not my enemies… it is the officials in the past administration. Let’s talk and thresh out problems so we can move on and rebuild what has been destroyed,” said Lee during his first public appearance since his release from detention on a simple estafa case.
Lee, who was incarcerated for more than four years at the Pampanga provincial jail on an alleged syndicated estafa case, was allowed to post bail Thursday. His lawyers declined to discuss the case but said all court proceedings are momentarily suspended.
Lee was accorded a grand welcome by Xevera residents and home owners, students, and local government unit employees of Mabalacat City led by Mayor Cris Garbo with a matching marching band shortly before the flag raising ceremony.
In his speech, Lee thanked Xevera Mabalacat Homeowners for the support and for keeping the Xevera community intact and a safe place to live.
“Actually I was told by my family not to go back to Xevera after my release from jail, but I insisted. I want to see the community. I don’t want to abandon the place, the homeowners,” Lee told his audience.
Lee was joined by Xevera homeowners when he made a brief tour of the amenities, church and school.
During his stay at the provincial jail, Lee said he helped the community there by putting up a bakery being run by the employees’ cooperative.
“My first two months was a nightmare. I cannot believe I was in prison despite of the good project I’ve done,” said Lee while narrating his sad experiences.
At first, Lee said he felt furious but as time passed by, it subsided and he turned mellow.
“I know this day will come.”
Lee is planning to rebuild the two Xevera communities (Mabalacat and Bacolor) with the help of local government units in their respective areas.
