The Manila Bay Coordinating Office of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, through the assistance of the Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office (PGENRO), will install a water quality monitoring station at Villa Lourdes Resort in Masantol town, Pampanga.
“The P23-million facility will give real time results in the parameters of water quality of our rivers. These include depth, temperature, salinity, turbidity, presence of algae, chlorophyll, ammonia, coliform, chloride, and heavy metals,” PGENRO Head Art Punsalan said.
Relative to the cleanup, preservation, and rehabilitation of the Manila Bay area, PGENRO would be organizing task forces that would act as river patrollers who will apprehend those who will throw garbage in the Porac-Gumain, Pasig-Potrero, and Pasak River systems.
“We are also planning to establish a provincial mangrove nursery in Sasmuan where endemic mangrove propagules will be raised,” Punsalan added.
