Department of Education is inviting youngsters in Central Luzon to apply as scholar in the newly-established Bataan High School for the Arts (BHSA).
School Coordinator Bryan Santos said BHSA offers specialization in theater arts, dance (folk or ballet), visual arts, media arts, malikhaing pagsusulat/creative writing, music-vocal and music-instrument.
“Applicants must be a bona fide resident of Region 3; an incoming Grade 7 student; not older than 14 years old upon enrolment or on September 6, 2021; fill-up an application form; and submit the requirements as stated in the application guidelines,” he said.
Additional requirements are needed depending on the field of study they want to pursue.
For theater arts, submit a one 3-minute acting performance and/or one 3-minute creative musical presentation and saved in a compatible MP4 video format.
For dance (folk or ballet), submit a video of dance performance in an area of interest and saved in a compatible MP4 video format.
For visual arts, submit five samples of produced artwork compiled in a digital format (saved as JPEG file).
For media arts, submit at least three to five produced short film/video or a feature film/video.
For malikhaing pagsusulat/creative writing, submit six samples of written works either a short story, poetry, play, essays etc. in Filipino and/or English (saved as PDF file).
For music-vocal, submit a video of music performance presentation signing at least two from these choices: a) one Kundiman or Filipino song classic piece, b) one Italian song from the anthology of Italian songs of the 17th century or any foreign classical song, c) one Broadway musical song (saved in compatible MP4 format).
And for music-instrument, submit a video of music performance presentation playing an instrument with at least two from these choices: a) scales and arpeggios in at least two octaves, b) one choice of classical music or kundiman, c) any song choice (saved in compatible MP4 format)
