Deped monitors students injected with dengvaxia vaccine

To help allay fears of parents immunized with dengue vaccine, Department of Education (Deped) Secretary Leonor Briones has ordered school regional directors to conduct close monitoring of students who have been administered with dengvaxia.
In a memorandum circular released on December 7, public and private schools in regions III, IV-A, VII and National Capital Region will be the focused of strengthened surveillance system.

Deped in coordination with trained health coordinators will be holding a fora for parents of vaccinated individuals on the vaccine program. A text line will be set up for parents to report any dengue symptoms of their children.

Other regions who did not implement the school based dengue vaccine program are still advised to conduct assessment to nine-year old and above learners of grades 4 to 6 who might have availed the vaccine through private practitioners.

With this, Deped emphasized the urgency of 4-S strategy anti-dengue drive which stands for search and destroy, seek early consultation, self-protective measures and say no to indiscriminate fogging.
