Development of Clark should be prioritized—BCDA President

The development of Clark should be prioritized as per instruction of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Bases Conversion and Development Authority President and Chief Executive Officer Vivencio Dizon disclosed the President’s pronouncement during the recent third leg of the Clark Development Stakeholders’ Roadshow.

“Our President has repeatedly stressed since the campaign period when he ran for the presidency that there is a definite need [for us] to focus on developing the areas outside of urban centers, outside of Metro Manila, such as Clark,” he shared.

Underscoring the problem of congestion in Metro Manila, Dizon explained that the solution to its decongestion is to immediately develop Clark.

He reiterated that through the area’s progressive development, investment, jobs, technology and innovation would be generated, which will benefit Central Luzon, as well.

“Hopefully, this would entice the people in Metro Manila to get out from there and transfer to other nearby provinces such as Pampanga, Tarlac, Bataan, and Zambales,” he said.

“Change was promised by President Duterte during the election campaign, and this remains the promise up to this day, and until the of the term of the current administration. For Central Luzon, we promise to change the way we think, the way we do things, and we will do that now and in the near future,” he emphasized. (PIA 3)
