DOH to Central Luzon residents: Fight vs COVID-19 not yet over

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Department of Health (DOH) reminded anew Central Luzon residents that the fight against COVID-19 is not yet over even as restrictions are slowly being eased.

Resolution No. 41 of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases placed the provinces of Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac and Zambales as well as the cities of Angeles and Olongapo under General Community Quarantine from June 1-15.

“We are not yet winning this fight against COVID-19. We must not put our guards down and let the virus aggressively invade every host that it can reach,” DOH Regional Director Cesar Cassion emphasized.

The official encouraged everyone to always practice minimum health standards such as wearing of face mask, washing hands regularly, observing physical distancing, staying at home, and foregoing non-essential travels.

Cassion said the body can fight COVID-19 if it has a strong immune system.

“Eating a well-balanced diet, having enough rest with at least eight hours of sleep, exercising regularly, and avoiding alcohol and tobacco consumption can strengthen your immune system,” he shared.

“These are only basic measures that when implemented properly and regularly, it could save you, your loved ones, and your community from this disease,” he furthered.

As of June 2, the region has a total of 607 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 381 recoveries and 64 deaths.
