TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed a flood control structure along the Talavera River in Llanera, Nueva Ecija.
The concrete slope protection, located in barangay San Nicolas, has a length of 276 lineal meters and a height of four meters.
DPWH Nueva Ecija 1st OIC-District Engineer Osias Santos said the structure was built on a steel sheet pile foundation.
“This is expected to deliver positive impacts on Llanera’s infrastructure and economy by safeguarding the agricultural lands, since many residents depend on income from farmlands,” he furthered.
“The P49-million flood control project not only strengthens our ability to protect our citizens but also enhances the overall quality of life and promotes sustainable development in flood-prone areas,” Santos emphasized.
DPWH’s continuous efforts to construct more flood mitigation structures aim to ensure the resilience of local communities, enabling them to withstand the challenges brought about by climate change.
