The Department of Public Works and Highways officially turned-over today the newly completed P63.1-million Hangar at the Army Aviation Regiment of the Philippine Army and the P39.2-million, 2-storey Administration Building of the Light Reaction Regiment at Fort Magsaysay in Nueva Ecija.
Public Works Secretary Mark A. Villar along with Senior Undersecretary Rafael C. Yabut, Assistant Secretary Wilfredo S. Mallari, Region III Assistant Director Denise Maria M. Ayag, and selected officials of the Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineering Office attended the blessing and inauguration of the military facilities which are expected to boost military defense operations.
“This defense standard military hangar is capable of accommodating government aircrafts for storage, maintenance, and rapid deployment when needed. The structure includes a full dimension parking space, drop-off area and PCCP that will serve as a runway,” Secretary Villar said.
Meanwhile, the completion of the new LRR Administration Building is expected to further improve the working condition of personnel involved in administrative and support operations. Villar also explained that the national government through the DPWH will continue to support the construction of modern military structures in the country.
“This year, our agency will also construct another hangar and the new headquarters building of the Army Aviation Regiment. Under the agency’s proposed FY 2022 National Expenditure Program, a total of fourteen (14) projects under the TIKAS program have been proposed with a total project cost of P210-million and I hope it will be approved by Congress,” Villar added.
The secretary recognizes the incomparable effort and sacrifice of military personnel in maintaining and promoting peace in the country citing that the swift implementation of vital infrastructure projects such as military facilities is one way of supporting them in their fight against insurgency and other external threats.
The DPWH delegation was welcomed by Army Aviation Regiment Commander Colonel Andre B. Santos and Light Reaction Regiment Commander Brigadier General Monico E. Abang. Several senior officers of the Philippine Army also attended the said activity which included Lt. Gen. Arnulfo Marcelo Burgos Jr., Commander of the Northern Luzon Command; Major General Rene S. Diaz of the Philippine Air Force; Special Forces Commander Brigadier General Lincoln Francisco T. Tagle; and Brigadier General Luis Rex Bergante, Acting Commander of the 7th Infantry (KAUGNAY) Division, Philippine Army.
