DOH, Capitol urge Kapampangans to be proactive vs COVID-19

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Department of Health (DOH) and the provincial government of Pampanga called on the public to be proactive in dealing with COVID-19, as the number of cases continue to increase every day.

“Daily, about 500 to 1,000 new cases are reported. This is unfortunate because we see that cases are increasing, and are further exacerbated with the presence of the Delta variant which is highly transmissible,” DOH Regional Director Corazon Flores said.

With this, she reminded Kapampangans to always observe health and safety protocols to minimize or slow down transmission.

Since the trend now is more on household transmission, household members should immediately isolate themselves whenever they have any flu-like symptoms.

“This will help a lot in lowering the cases, especially that Covid wards and intensive care units in different hospitals are now reaching full capacity,” Flores said.

She also discouraged the public from attending wakes, especially if they do not know the cause of death of the person.

Meanwhile, Vice Governor Lilia Pineda urged Kapampangans to practice early health seeking behaviors amid the rise in mortalities.

“At the earliest onset of your symptoms, you should consult with a health worker so that you can take the needed medicines. Do not wait for days or until your symptoms get worse before you go to a hospital,” she said.

Pineda stressed that unlike other diseases which need lifetime treatment, Covid-19 is easy to treat if only patients immediately seek treatment.

She also urged Kapampangans to report to their respective barangays or towns if they tested positive for proper isolation and monitoring.

“Do not be afraid to seek help. Do not hide if you are infected. Go to our district hospitals so that you cannot infect your relatives. This way, you do not only save yourself, but also your loved ones. We can prevent deaths from Covid if only you will let us know and cooperate with us,” Pineda said.

Specifically, she warned pregnant women to take care of themselves since not all hospitals are capable to cater to positive pregnant women who are about to give birth.

With this, the Vice Governor also announced that district hospitals in the province are now allowed to accept mild and moderate cases of Covid-19.
