BALANGA CITY — Bataan proves to be a persons-with-disability (PWD) friendly province as one of its non-governmental organizations received a national recognition from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Samahan ng mga Taong May Kapansanan Bataan, Inc. (SATAMAKABA) bagged the Best People’s Organization Award during the 2018 Pagkilala sa Natatanging Kontribusyon sa Bayan (PaNata Ko sa Bayan) Awards held last March 8 at the DSWD Central Office Auditorium in Quezon City.
The award is under the Gawad Paglilingkod sa Sambayanan category which is a recognition given to partners in government service who provide significant contributions in their respective communities.
SATAMAKABA President Rolando Cortez and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office Head Marilyn Tigas received the award.
“This is yet another feat for the Province of Bataan. Together with the Provincial Council on Disability Affairs, we will ensure that PWDs in the province will be engaged to our social programs,” Tigas said.
PaNata Ko sa Bayan is an annual event of the DSWD that recognizes partners and stakeholders who have been helpful in providing assistance to the various activities relevant to social welfare and development in their respective community. (CLJD/MJSD-PIA 3)
