CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will continue on capacitating micro and small entrepreneurs to sell online, as part of its priority programs for 2021.
DTI Regional Director Judith Angeles said that this year, they capacitated about 900 entrepreneurs as part of adapting to the new normal.
“We are glad that their response is positive. Maybe because they see that if they will not learn or go into online selling, they will not earn. While COVID-19 is still around, we will have some difficulties when it comes to face to face selling or shopping,” Angeles said.
For 2021, DTI targets more small-scale businesses in order to saturate the 5,000 micro, small, and medium enterprises target in the region.
“We will assist them so that they will have their own platforms. What we want is for them to have strong presence over the internet so that they can promote their products and sell more,” she shared.
Meanwhile, Angeles reminded all entrepreneurs to have their businesses registered.
“Whatever type of business you put up, you should secure the necessary permits so that your business will have legal identity. This will make it easier for us to monitor your business and at the same time make it more credible for the consumers,” she said.
Aside from this, DTI will target more beneficiaries for the Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay and Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa programs.
“We will distribute more livelihood kits because we want to rebuild the livelihood of our people, especially those who were hardly hit by the ongoing pandemic. For the rebel returnees, we want to help them start a new life by giving them new livelihood. We hope all this will be successful because we want more people to be entrepreneurs, to be self-employed so that they no longer depend on others,” Angeles furthered.
