DTI warns on new text scams

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is warning the public on a new wave of scams being done through text messages.

“We issued the advisory to warn the public against the circulation of messages through text relative to SIM numbers winning prizes from GLOBAL REMITTANCE of OFW/BSP. Such messages also advise the public to call a number claiming to be that of DTI Secretary RAMON M. LOPEZ,” DTI Regional Director Judith Angeles said.

The public is advised that such messages are part of a scam. The recipients of such messages are advised to ignore the message, block the number, and file a complaint with the National Telecommunications Commission through its website and to alert them about such SMS scam.

“You may also contact DTI through its official contact center hotline (02) 751.3330 (Monday-Sunday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. except holidays), message us through Facebook at DTI.Philippines or at DTI Central Luzon, or text us at ‎+63917834.3330,” Angeles added.
