Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) Acting President and CEO Alexander Cauguiran (center) join heads of other government agencies in the cutting of a symbolic red tape to emphasize the efforts of the National Competitive Council (NCC) to end red tape that breeds corruption and repeal and review outdated, burdensome, and unnecessary laws or issuances imposed on businesses and citizens that affect the country’s global competitiveness ranking and investment climate. The effort, known as Project Repeal, is a government-wide regulatory reform initiative of various government agencies that include the departments of Trade and Industry (DTI), Finance (DoF), Tourism (DOT), Education (DepEd), Labor and Employment (DOLE), the Civil Service Commission and the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA), and the private sector represented by businessman Guillermo Luz as NCC co-chairman, among others, to change the way government institutes policies and regulatory reforms with aim of institutionalizing an effective government-wide deregulation system that will reduce the cost of doing business to attract more foreign direct investments in the country. The NCC envisions a more competitive Philippines and to instill a culture of excellence through public-private sector collaboration as a means to reduce poverty through inclusive growth that can be made possible through the implementation of the action agenda with private sector initiatives that support public policies.
