Farmers’ group in Nampicuan withdraws support to CPP-NPA

CABANATUAN CITY — About 37 members of the Nagkakaisang Magsasaka ng Nampicuan (NAMANA) on Monday withdrew their support and condemned the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA).

During the activity, which coincided with the 52nd founding anniversary of NPA, the farmers burned CPP-NPA flags and took their oath of commitment to abandon them.

NAMANA Acting Chair Victorio Abella appealed to the CPP-NPA to stop bothering them so they could live a peaceful life.

“We want to live in peace. We do not want to do things we regret later on,” he stressed.

Abella also encouraged other members of CPP-NPA to return to the folds of government.

“Surrender, so you can see how our government works now, let us work together to develop our community,” he furthered.

The group likewise expressed their desire to rename their organization into Samahan ng mga Magsasaka sa Nampicuan, Nueva Ecija to totally disassociate themselves with the CPP-NPA.

For his part, Nampicuan Mayor Victor Badar welcomed the action taken by the farmers. 

He also assured them that the municipal government is committed to provide them assistance in any way it could.

Meanwhile, the farmers also underwent orientation and took oath as new members of the Sentrong Alyansa ng Mga Mamamayan para sa Bayan Gitnang Luzon.

They also received food packs as beneficiaries of the Rektang Bayanihan program of the Police Regional Office 3.
