“Isang masaya, makabuluhan na pagbabalik tanaw sa ating kasaysayan at pagpapayaman sa ating kultura ang selebrasyon ngayon para sa ating Pyesta,” said Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa’ Santiago during the Pyestang Fernandino 2018 press conference.
Anchored on the theme “Pyestang Fernandino Pagmasusian, Kulturang Kapampangan Pakamalan” the City Government of San Fernando headed by Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa’ Santiago together with Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin, City Councilors Harvey Quiwa, BJ Lagman and Pyestang Fernandino 2018 Chairperson Robbie Hizon led the unveiling of calendar of activities for the Pyestang Fernandino 2018 on May 8 in front of the City Hall followed by a press conference at the San Fernando Old Train Station.
The Local Government of San Fernando through its City Tourism Office lined-up various activities and programs that aim to promote the city’s rich culture and tradition.
Different activities are all set up for the said celebration, some of these are ABS-CBN Sorpresaya/Bida Kapamilya: Just Love Araw araw on May 12 followed by the celebration of Fernandino Farmers’ Week on May 15-18.
Mutya at Lakan ning San Fernando Swimsuit Competition and Press presentation will take place on May 16.
As part of the promotion of the city’s heritage there will be an unveiling of Metropolitan Cathedral city marker on May 17.
Meanwhile, the best of Fernandino crafts and products will showcase on Pyestang Fernandino Mega-Sale which will be held on May 17-31 followed by Pyestang Fernandino Trade Fair and Diskwento Caravan on May 21-26 and Pyestang Fernandino Tiangge on May 21-30 wherein everyone may enjoy all kinds of merchandise at cheap prices.
The city will also host the National Heritage Month Celebration on May 18-19 with various activities such as; Heritage Open House, Kalesa Tours, Special Screening of Ari- My Life with a King and Heritage Tour on the Works of Fernando H. Ocampo-Arkitekto ning Balen.
On May 19, the candidates for the Little Miss Fernandina and Mutya at Lakan ning San Fernando 2018 will join the Flores de Mayo which will be held on May 19. This year’s Flores De Mayo will be led by Binibining Pilipinas-Miss Universe Catriona Gray to be followed by Mr. Body Builder Competition.
Seminar on the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines will be conducted on May 22.
Little Miss Fernandina Pre-Pageant Competition will take place on May 21, while the Mutya at Lakan ning San Fernando Pre-Pageant will be on May 24 and Miss Gay Fernandina Pre-Pageant and Coronation Night on May 25.
For sports enthusiasts, the Inter-Barangay Basketball/Volleyball Championship will be on May 26 while the opening of Ultimate Fernandino Frisbee will be on June 2.
Cheer up for your favorite candidate during the Little Miss Fernandina Coronation Night on May 26 and Mutya at Lakan ning San Fernando Coronation Night on May 29.
Pyestang Fernandino Off-Road Challenge and JCI San Fernando Cabalen Motor Show will be on May 26-27.
Come and enjoy the first ever ‘The Heritage Café Bubble Fun Run’ on May 27. The city will also hold El Circulo Fernandino on the same day.
If you have the vocal prowess and you can dance on the beat, then join the Pyestang Fernandino Cultural Dance and Singing Competition on May 28. The city will also commemorate the National Flag Day on the same day and Brigada Eskwela will take place also.
The City Government of San Fernando will offer a thanksgiving mass for all the city’s accomplishments and blessings on May 30 followed by the unveiling of Fernando Hizon Ocampo Monument.
The celebration of Pyestang Fernandino 2018 will be filled with laughter and joy as the City Government of San Fernando will host “Pyestang Fernandino Variety Show” on May 30 and SB Music Academy’s “Simply the Best Season 8” on May 31.
The said celebration will culminate on June 12 for the 120th Philippine Independence Day Civic Military Parade.
“Ang araw na ito ay araw din ng ating pasasalamat dahil tayo ay nakapagbibigay ng dekalidad na serbisyo para sa mamamayan, kaya naman hinihikayat ko kayong lahat na makilahok at makisaya sa ating Pyestang Fernandino 2018,” Santiago ended.
