CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Five local government units (LGUs) in Central Luzon recently made it into the top 10 of the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) for 2017 of the National Competitiveness Council (NCC).
“Baler town in Aurora placed first Overall Most Competitive LGU in the 3rd to 6th Class Municipalities Category,” Department of Trade and Industry Regional Director Judith Angeles disclosed.
It also landed first in Infrastructure and Third Place in Resiliency. San Simon in Pampanga ranked 7th Overall in the same category.
Moreover, the City of San Fernando placed second in terms of Economic Dynamism in the Component Cities category.
It also ranked Fourth Overall among the component cities in the country.
Bongabon town in Nueva Ecija, on the other hand, was awarded First Place for the Most Improved LGU in the 1st to 2nd Class Municipalities Category.
Baliwag in Bulacan placed third in same award in the mentioned category.
“CMCI is an annual ranking of Philippine cities and municipalities developed by NCC through the Regional Competitiveness Committees with the assistance from the United States Agency for International Development. For 2017, all of the 130 local government units of Central Luzon participated in the CMCI survey,” Angeles added. –Carlo Lorenzo J. Datu
