Germany to fund floodproofing of Dinalupihan hospital

BALANGA CITY — Germany is set to fund the floodproofing of Jose C. Payumo Memorial District Hospital in Dinalupihan town which is a COVID-19 referral hospital.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by Governor Albert Garcia, Dinalupihan Mayor Maria Angela Garcia, German Ambassador Anke Reiffenstuel and Flood Control Asia RS Corp. President and CEO Andreas Klippe.

“This project will serve as an opportunity to be a vessel of better public service in the midst of our fight against the ill effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in our province,” Governor Garcia said.

Under the MOU, Germany will fund 80 percent of the PhP10 million project which will be completed this April.

“Since Bataan is a Peninsula, the provincial government is thinking of the possibility of doing the same project. The more we know about the technology and the more we will be able to know its effective utilization for other installations in the province,” Governor Garcia furthered.

For her part, Reiffenstuel hopes that this flood protection will go beyond the pandemic.

“I look forward to the success of the project and hopes to see similar projects like this to come to Bataan,” the envoy furthered.
