CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan – Heavy rains spawned by tropical storm “Gorio” submerged six villages in the towns of Marilao and Balagtas while classes in all levels in Marilao, Baliwag and Meycauayan City were suspended, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office reported on Thursday afternoon.
Reports reaching the Communication, Command, and Control Center (C4) of PDRRMC said the village of Poblacion 1 in Marilao was submerged under 8 to 5 feet of flood waters while the villages of Poblacion 2 , Tabing Ilog and Nagbalon were under 2 to 1 feet of water.
The stretch of Macarthur highway infront of SM City Mall in Bgy. Saog, also in Marilao, was also inundated by 5 to 4 feet of floods rendering impassable for light vehicles.
Classes in all levels were suspended in Meycauayan City, Marilao and Baliwag by their respective mayors.
No untoward incident has been reported as of 2pm Thursday.
PDRRM officer Liz Mungcal said Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado have already alerted teams of responders to monitor the situation and updates on the tropical storm.
She said the governor advised residents in flood prone areas to be careful and report to authorities incidents of emergencies.
As of 3pm Wednesday, the water level at Angat dam was 185.92 meters (spilling level 210 meters, 101.10 meters at Ipo Dam (spilling level 101 meters) and 16.16 meters at Bustos dam (spilling level 17. 50 meters. –EMIL G. GAMOS
