Risa Hontiveros (center), chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, discusses a proposal to strengthen the Anti-Hospital Deposit Law by increasing the penalties of hospitals and medical clinics that refuse to administer medical treatment in emergency or serious cases. ‘The state must do its best to provide hospital and medical services to the people. The government must guarantee that they will not be denied hospital treatment just because they cannot give an advance payment,’ Hontiveros said. Senators Antonio Trillanes and Gregorio Honasan also attended the hearing.
