Bataan 3rd District Representative Maria Angela “Gila” Garcia on Friday announced the House Bill No. 9601, also known as “An Act Creating a High School for Sports in the Municipality of Bagac, Province of Bataan to be known as the Bataan High School for Sports, and Appropriating Funds ”, has passed its third and final reading in Congress.
Congresswoman Garcia said the her bill aims to raise awareness and skills of young people in the field of sports by providing a combination of general secondary curriculum and special curriculum in sports at the Bataan High School for Sports.
The bill is in line with the mandate of the Philippine Constitution to promote physical education, sports programs, league competitions, and amateur sports, including training athletes who will participate in international competitions. The Bataan High School for Sports will ensure that athletes are more disciplined, have teamwork, are healthier, and alert at all times.
The Bataan High School for Sports will become a National High School that will respond to the needs not only of our province and region but also of all deserving students from across the country. It also aims to hone the skills of athletes with potential in various sports fields to prepare them to become world-class sports competitors through an appropriate academic foundation.
