Former President and now House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo formally installed Dr. Emmanuel Y. Angeles as the first Chancellor Emeritus of Angeles University Foundation (AUF).
The solemn Investiture Rites was held on August 31, 2018 at the AUF Sports and Cultural Center, with a cultural show and reception following the ceremony.
Before the conferment rites, AUF Chairman of the Board and Archbishop Emeritus of San Fernando, Pampanga Most Rev. Paciano B. Aniceto D.D, led the celebration of the holy mass, along with University trustee Rev. Fr. Quirico T. Pedregosa, Jr. O.P, Archbishop of San Fernando, Pampanga Most Rev. Florentino G. Lavarias D.D., and University chaplain Fr. John Paul Cabrera.
Macapagal-Arroyo administered the oath of office and presented the Medal of Chancellor Emeritus to Dr. Angeles. Most Rev. Paciano B. Aniceto, in his capacity as the chairman of the AUF Board of Trustees, presented and read the appointment of Dr. Angeles, while University president Dr. Joseph E.L Angeles delivered the address of acceptance, on behalf of Dr. Angeles.
Representatives of government and private agencies in the sectors of education, sports, healthcare and business, as well as members of the Angeles family, AUF and AUFMC trustees witnessed the investiture –the fifth in the history of the University.
Dr. Angeles enjoyed a distinguished career, spanning more than 50 years, during which he established a national and international standing. He became the second university president in 1796, and the first university chancellor in 2005. He also held key positions in the government such as CEO of Clark Development Corporation in 2001 and CHED Chairman in 2008.
