‘Int’l travel might not happen this 2020’ – DOT

This may not be the year for your ‘Travel Bucket List’ as foreign travel restrictions remain enforced until the end of 2020 due to coronavirus pandemic.

“Travel will not revert to normal right away even if the enhanced community quarantine has been lifted. At this point in time, traveling is just but a dream,” Department of Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said.

Following the ‘new normal’ trend, DOT is adopting policies and programs to immediately implement contact-less transactions among tourism-related establishments

Based on DOT reports, foreign arrivals from January to March reached 1.3 million, 40.2% lower than 2019.

Revenues on foreign arrivals also dropped from P134.3 billion to P79.8 billion, Puyat added.
