ANGELES CITY–The City Government here under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr., started the distribution of milk to children on Monday, April 27.
“32,000 na batang may edad dalawa hanggang anim na taong gulang ang mahahatiran natin ng kanya-kanyang gatas. We have to make sure that in times like this, our children are properly taken care of,” Lazatin said.
A total of 32,000 kids, ages 2 up to 6 years old, will receive formula milk and other needs from the City Government.
This was based from the house-to-house survey conducted by Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) and Barangay Population Workers (BPW) per household in 33 barangays to identify needs of families with children.
“Nagsagawa po ng house-to-house survey ang ating mga Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) at Barangay Population Workers (BPW) para mayroon tayong pagbasihan sa mga kailangan nating ibigay sa kanila,” Lazatin added.
Lazatin allotted P7 million for the procurement of formula milk and other needs of children. However, he promotes that breastfeeding is still best for infants.
Lazatin, thru Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel and members of City Nutrition Office and Gender and Development Office carried out house-to-house distribution of formula milk.
The City Government started the distribution in Barangay Agapito Del Rosario, where 244 kids received milk; Barangay Lourdes Sur East with 455 beneficiaries, and Barangay Lourdes Sur with 435 kids.
The distribution of formula milk in other barangays will follow suit.
The Angeles City Culiat Jaycees donated 528 packs of Bear Brand, while the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) donated 2,500 packs of the same powdered milk drink.
