Lazatin inspects vaccination of seniors, PWDs

Angeles City Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr. on May 12, 2021 personally inspects the ongoing vaccination of Angeleño senior citizens and persons with disability (PWDs) at the City College of Angeles (CCA).

Currently, the city government is conducting vaccination to A2 — senior citizens aged 60 years old and above — and A3 — persons with comorbidities and disabilities — priority groups, which was created by the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (NITAG), a group of health experts advising the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF).

Prioritization was based on assessing risks of exposure and physical condition in compliance with the World Health Organization’s recommendations of giving priority to medical frontliners and those considered high-risk. High-risk individuals are senior citizens, people with heart or lung disease, diabetes, or conditions affecting their immune system.

“Unti-unti na nating nasisimulan ang pag-roll out ng vaccines para sa pagbabakuna ng mga residente ng siyudad. Nauna na ang mga health workers at frontliners ng siyudad gaya ng utos ng DOH, at ngayon naman ang mga senior citizens at PWDs, pero sisiguraduhin natin na lahat ng mga Angeleños mababakunahan at mapropeoteksyunan laban sa COVID-19,” Lazatin said.

According to Mayor Lazatin’s Chief Adviser and Tactician IC Calaguas, the working committee for the city’s COVID-19 vaccination is working tirelessly to make sure that once the AstraZeneca vaccines purchased by the city government arrive, the citywide roll-out vaccination for the rest of the Angeleños will begin.

To date, the city has already vaccinated private and public health workers and medical personnel handling COVID-19 patients at the city’s vaccination sites in Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center and CCA, using the vaccines donated by the World Health Organization through the Department of Health.

While waiting for the vaccine supplies, Mayor Lazatin is encouraging Angeleños to register via the digital vaccination survey — http://hsfcv.angelescity.gov.ph — and participate in the ongoing household survey to identify those with comorbidities and age groups. –Photos by Jomes Sugui
