LUBAO, Pampanga — The local government unit here on Wednesday received the P2 million cash incentive for achieving the 2017 Seal of Good Governance (SGLG).
Mayor Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab, Vice Mayor Robertito Diaz, municipal councilors and department heads personally received the check disbursed by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) under the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) program.
The SGLG seal is conferred to local government units that adhere to performance criteria on any of the following areas: good financial housekeeping (GFH), disaster preparedness, social protection for the basic sector, business-friendliness and competitiveness, environmental management, and law and order and public safety.
Cayabyab said the P2-million fund will be used either for the construction or repair of 30 classrooms in various public schools in the municipality.
DILG provincial director Myrvi Fabia handed the fund in a simple turnover ceremony at the municipal hall.
Lubao was among the 13 other localities in Pampanga to win in the 2017 SGLG, along with the Provincial Government of Pampanga.
This month, the Pampanga Mayors League will hold an early meeting this month in preparation for this year’s SGLG award.
Mayor Cayabyab, who is also PML president, hopes to encourage more of her fellow local executives in Pampanga to gun for the award.
“Malaking tulong kasi ang pondong makukuha ng bawat bayan mula sa PCF para sa mga proyektong pakikinabangan ng mga mamamayan. Bukod pa dito ang pagiging maayos ng pamamahala sa bawat bayan,” the mayor said.
