Malasakit Centers to rise in Zambales

SUBIC BAY FREEPORT – Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Secretary Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Tesoro Go said yesterday more “Malasakit Centers” will be put up by the government, with Olongapo City and towns of Zambales, among those to be chosen to help less fortunate Filipinos in this part of the country.

In a short visit here to grace the opening of Zubakery Café in Binictican, Subic Bay Freeport, Go said the establishment of more “Malasakit Centers” around the country is in response to President Rodrigo Duterte’s directive to bring government services closer to the people.

“This is why we want to establish more “Malasakit Centers all over the country, Go said.

Go was welcomed by provincial and town officials that included San Antonio Mayor Estela Deloso Antipolo, who delivered the welcome remarks, Vice Governor Angel Magsaysay, board members Satur Bactad and Jury Deloso, Castillejos Mayor Jose Angelo Dominguez and Subic Mayor Jay Khonghun.

“Malasakit Centers” are described as one-stop facilities for the medical and social service needs of indigent patients.

These centers provide free medicine, health consultations, and other government assistance to less fortunate Filipinos who cannot afford to go to private medical facilities.

“Malasakit Centers” make this process easier and more convenient as agencies concerned are located in the same area.
Among the government agencies that can be found in a “Malasakit Center” are: Philippine the Charity Sweepstakes Office, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philhealth, and Department of Health.

The primary objective of these centers is to assist indigent patients or their relatives an easy way to minimize their hospital bills or even reduce it to zero balance.

Bong Go gave assurance “Malasakit Centers” will soon rise in this part of the country.
