HERMOSA, Bataan – Mayor Jopet Inton on Friday joined the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in the distribution of cash loans to 200 beneficiaries of the government’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
Inton awarded P7,500 for each beneficiary under the DSWD’s Bottom Up Budgeting-Sustainable Livelihood Program-Seed Capital Fund (BUB-SLP-SCF).
The DSWD as the main source of fund awarded P5,000 to each beneficiary as cash loan while P2,500 came from their savings in the 1st batch of their cash loan assistance. They are required to pay P165 (P100 for their loan and P65 for their savings) every week.
Under the said program, the cash loan assistance is payable within a year without any interest.
“Umaasa po kami na mga naglilingkod sa inyo na pagyayamanin ninyo ang mga pondong ito na ipinagkakaloob sa atin ng gobyerno para sa ikaangat ng inyong mga kabuhayan,” Mayor Inton told the beneficiaries.
The 4Ps program is a human development measure of the national government that provides conditional cash grants to the poorest of the poor to improve their economic life and provide health, nutrition, and education to their children. It is patterned after the conditional cash transfer (CCT) schemes in Latin American and African countries, which have lifted millions of people around the world from poverty. •Text by Mhike R.
