OLONGAPO CITY, Zambales– Joint operatives of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Zambales Field Units and 301st MARPSTA have arrested two minor siblings for child abuse and human trafficking.
The two minors were arrested in New Cabalan Olongapo City based on the warrant of arrest issued by Regional Trial Court 3 Branch 12-FC of Olongapo City .
The suspects revealed they were both Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL) who escaped from the custody of City Social Welfare Development Office last March 29.
The two were now in the custody of CIDG Olongapo CFU for documentation and temporary detention while waiting for their commitment order to BJMP Olongapo.
Moreover, CIDG clarifies that it has no jurisdiction on the case to determine whether or not the suspects were minor or acted in their own discernment. The CIDG operatives were only authorized to carry out the service of Warrant of Arrest.
Relatives of suspects may file a motion to lift warrant of arrest the two minors and if granted, the court may order their immediate release from CIDG’s custody.
“Our family values are reflection of who we are. Children watch their parents interact with others, make choices and determine right and wrong and this impacts how the children develop their moral self. Parents should be blamed for their children’s wrong doing,” CIDG Olongapo City Chief Police Major Michael John Villanueva said.
