The Manila North Tollways Corporation has partnered with Waze, a mobile navigation application software, for real-time traffic information dissemination.
Glenn Campos, MNTC assistant vice president for traffic and operations management, said they will provide motorists information regarding traffic congestion, accidents, and road closures within their scope through Waze.
Waze is a software application that allows users to drive to passively contribute speed, congestion and routing insights. Passengers can also actively share reports of accidents or hazards along their routes to alert other drivers.
Waze has 50 million monthly active users to date.
The Waze feed includes real-time information on system generated traffic jams identified by analyzing user GPS signals and user-reported incidents including accident traffic jams, hazards, construction, potholes, roadkill, stopped vehicles, objects on road and missing signs.
Campos said Waze information will be integrated into MNTC traffic management centers that will allow them to respond to accident real-time.
