HERMOSA, Bataan — The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) turned over about P2.7 million as assistance for drug reformists and rehabilitation centers in Hermosa town under its Bukas na Pintuan Tungo sa Pagbabago Program.
NGCP Corporate Initiative and Advocacies Division Head Lida May Lopez said the program aims to support drug reformists in various drug rehabilitation centers through financial and technical assistance.
“This project that NGCP pioneered last year is our contribution to the government’s call to uplift and provide opportunities for those who lost their ways due to drug addiction,” Lopez furthered.
The program also aims to boost employment opportunities and address the needs for more skilled workers in the country by supporting drug reformists after undergoing rehabilitation.
“The donation is specifically for the Bahay Pagbabago Center in the town which will cater to about 252 drug reformists for a period of 12 months,” she furthered.
Mayor Antonio Joseph Inton vowed that the financial aid from NGCP will be utilized for the benefit of those drug reformists who wish to change their paths.
“This project is a big help for our town especially that it is in line with the program of President Rodrigo Duterte to save our youth against the use of illegal drugs,” Inton said.
Also present in the activity were Police Provincial Director PSSupt. Marcelo Dayag, and Technical Education and Skills Development Provincial Director Virginia Bondoc who served as signatories together with Inton and Lopez.
In Bataan, Balanga City and the towns of Orion and Dinalupihan have also partnered with NGCP for its Bukas na Pintuan Tungo sa Pagbabago Program to further support drug reformists in the province.
