NHA seeks release of land title to Porac beneficiaries

The National Housing Authority (NHA) has sought the release of a land title for the benefit of some 2,500 family-beneficiaries in Barangay Pio Tokwing Model Community in Porac town.

A 50-hectare area was donated to some 2,500 families in Porac town after the Mt. Pinatubo eruptions in June 1991 but the beneficiaries are yet to receive their respective land titles.

The Reyes family donated the land for the housing project of affected Porac residents. But the heirs of Ciriaco Reyes family reportedly refused to give the land title after the death of the Reyes patriarch.

“Apparently, ayaw nilang i-release yung title. So basically for the benefit of beneficiaries natin matagal na silang nandoon, they asked remedy from the court,” said National Housing Authority General Manager Roderick Ibanez.

“During that time agriculture pa yung lupa niya so there is a need to convert it into residential. Apparently hindi pa na irelease yung title after so many years. Hanggang ngayon namatay na si Mr. Reyes hindi pa naibigay yung title,” according to Ibanez.

NHA past officials have tried their best “na makipagusap ng maayos sa heirs for them to surrender the title” but to no avail.

Ibanez along with Porac Councilor Mike Tapang on Wednesday submitted a petition to the Regional Trial Court of Angeles City urging the heirs of Ciriaco Reyes to surrender the land title with TCT No. 382955.

In case the heirs still refuse to hand over the land title, NHA urged the Register of Deeds to enter on the said title the Deed of Donation; and issue a new TCT under NHA’s name.
