Olongapo triathlete bags 1st gold for PH in SEAG 2019

Olongapo native John Chicano, the country’s representative in the Men’s Triathlon, bagged the Philippines’ 1st gold in the South East Asian Games 2019 on Sunday, Dec 1, in Subic Bay. 

Meanwhile, fellow Filipino athlete Kim Remolino finished second in the race, which is also the first silver medal for the Philippines in SEAG.

Olongapo City Mayor Atty. Rolen Paulino Jr. personally greeted Chicano on his Facebook account.

“Congrats John Chicano (Rambo), ikaw  ang unang nagbigay ng ginto para sa Pilipinas sa SEAGAMES, We are all proud of you! God Bless you and God Bless Olongapo!,” he posted. 

Chicano and Remolino finished the race with a time of 1:53:26 and 1:55:03, respectively, dominating a 1-2 win. 

Indonesian athlete Muhammad Ahlul Firman got the 3rd spot with a time of 1:57:10. 

Moreover, Kim Mangrobang and Kim Kilgroe of the women’s race will compete on Dec 1 at 8:15 am.
