The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Regional Welfare Office 3 (OWWA-3) has started giving financial relief assistance to affected Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families distressed by the recent economic crisis in Saudi Arabia since August 01, 2016.
The relief assistance program aims to cushion the impact of forced unemployment and income affecting OFWs employed by Saudi bin Laden Group of Companies (SBG), Saudi Oger,Ltd., (SOL), Mohammed al-Mojil Group (MMG), Mohammad Hameed Al-Bargash & Bros. Trading & Construction Co., ALUMCO L.L.C., Rajeh H. Al Merri Contracting & Trading Company, Fawzi Salah – Al Nairani Contracting Company, Arabtec Construction L.L.C., and Real Estate Development and Investment Company.
A one-time grant of P20,000 for repatriated OFWs, 1,590 Saudi Riyals for OFWs still at jobsite and P6,000 for families of stranded OFWs is given exclusively to help the OFWs and their families.
As of August 19, 2016, OWWA-RWO3 has already released a total of P13,532,000 to 1,743 beneficiaries. This consists of 220 repatriated workers and 1,523 families of affected OFWs. Claimants are required to bring necessary documents for the claiming of the relief assistance.
OWWA-RWO3 continuously accommodates OFWs and their families with the relief assistance.
