P3.4M shabu confiscated during ECQ

OLONGAPO CITY – The Olongapo City Police Office (OCPO) presented to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO) Regional Director Police Brig. Gen. Rhodel Sermonia P3.4-million worth of shabu confiscated during the Extreme Enhanced Community Quarantine (EECQ) here.

OCPO chief PCol. Benjamin Sembrano told newsmen here three drug suspects were also arrested during a joint anti-illegal drug operation Of OCPO and the Northern Police District (NPD) on Maundy Thursday. Another three were arrested on Good Friday all of them included in the Most Wanted List.

Sembrano added the operation stemmed from the previous buy-bust operation of the Drug Enforcement Unit of the NPD in Caloocan City where a total of 105 grams of shabu were confiscated with the arrest of three drug personalities.

The team composed of the DDEU, DSOU, and the DMFB of the NPD conducted joint drug operations that led to the arrest of Jonalyn Igbus y Colong, Reuben Melencio y biong, Nino Roble y Dimapase and Jemylyn Colong y Cabanes alias Malyn.Confiscated were five medium sized heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu with an approximate weight of 502 grams, with an estimated street value of P3,413,000.

The team also seized two pieces of P1,000 bill that included 231 pieces of fake P1,000 bills used during the buy-bust operation. They also seized two cellphones, a black and brown paperbag, a white sando bag, a sling bag and a weighing scale.

Meanwhile, the three wanted persons were identified as Leonora Colong y Cabanes, Ruben Cawaling y Tan, Lizbeth Colong y Cabanes, all cohorts of Malyn Colong. The three were arrested by virtue of a Warrant of Arrests issued on January 15, 2019 by Hon. Soliver C Peras, Acting Presiding Judge of RTC, Branch 15, Ozamiz City in Criminal Case Numbers RTC-8804, RTC-8805 and RTC-8806 for Violation of Sec. 11, Art. II of RA 9165 and Violation of RA 9516 (Illegal Possession of Explosives), respectively with No Bail recommended for both cases and Violation of RA 10591 issued on August 23, 2018 by RTC, Branch 35, Ozamiz City under Criminal Case No. RTC-8807

RD Sermonia lauded the efforts of the OCPO, stating they should do their duties diligently since their services is much needed during this time of crisis. He added the PNP is not only capable of upholding the law, but providing humanitarian services as well. (MHIKE CIGARAL)
