Pampanga Capitol orders strict implementation of granular lockdowns

The provincial government of Pampanga has ordered the strict implementation of granular lockdowns in areas where there is clustering of COVID-19 cases.

Governor Dennis Pineda said the prompt and aggressive response of local government units (LGUs), especially in areas where clustering or spike in cases occur, is the most effective way to halt the further transmission of the virus.

“We will not allow the entire province to be affected if we implement a total lockdown. We have to consider our economic workers and businesses. We just need to focus and pay close attention to the barangays where the case is too high,” Pineda said.

Aside from the strict implementation of granular lockdowns, Pineda also urged local chief executives to intensify house-to-house contact tracing and antigen testing in order to immediately isolate positive individuals.

LGUs are also instructed to conduct disinfection activities, as well as set up operational checkpoints in their jurisdiction.

The governor also reminded the mayors to provide food and other needs of those who are home quarantined and transport them to local isolation facilities, while also providing medication for those who show symptoms.

For her part, Department of the Interior and Local Government Provincial Director Myrvi Apostol-Fabia ensured that they will assist and oversee the responses of LGUs in conducting granular lockdowns and ensuring proper service delivery to the affected residents.
