PHILIPPINE Basketball Association (PBA) star player Jayson Castro is the owner of the first franchise of Funnside Ningnangan, a grill and
seafood restaurant.
Castro of Talk N Text basketball club and his partner, Lyle Mariano, will own the branch along Jose Abad Santos Avenue in Guagua, Pampanga.
Castro, a Kapampangan who resides in Guagua, said “I was a fan of Funnside Ningnangan because its food taste really delicious.” He added
that his personal favorites are barbecue and sinigang Lapu Lapu sa miso.
“I immediately sought audience with the owners when they decided to offer franchise,” said Castro in the dialect. The owners of Funnside
Ningnangan are former Sto. Tomas, Pampanga Mayor Joselito “Lito” Naguit and Librada Manlapaz.
Castro said he wants to invest for his future that’s why he had decided to open up a business at the height of his career. The point
guard is under a maximum contract with his ball club worth P15 million for three years.
Naguit said they are “honored” to have a popular PBA player as their partner. He described the partnership as a “milestone.”
Funnside Ningnangan, which started on September 9, 2009, have a total of eight branches in Pampanga, Bulacan and Caloocan City.
The Guagua branch, which had a ground-breaking ceremony last Monday, is expected to open on July 14. It will offer 50 percent discount on
its opening day.
