PNP orders recall of personnel detailed to VIPs, politicians

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Police personnel detailed to secure VIPs including politicians and local chief executives have been ordered to return back to their mother units for “accounting purposes” as part of the “Oplan Disiplina” program of PNP Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde.

Senior Supt. Nicolas Supan Salvador, director, Pampanga Police Provincial Office (PPO), said the PNP national accounting program is aimed at identifying actual strength and personnel assigned in various police offices across the country.

“Our target is to identify the 15-30 cops, those who were on absent without leave (AWOL) but still receiving salary, “lubog” and those who are working abroad but still in the roster of the PNP,” said Salvador adding that in Pampanga alone at least four policemen, assigned to Macabebe town, have been ordered to explain after they failed to physically present themselves during surprise inspection.

I will only consider valid reasons, added Salvador as he warned police chiefs in 22 Pampanga towns including this city, to manage their personnel well or face the consequences, and could be a ground for their reassignment.

“They have to physically present themselves during inspection, no ifs no but!,” Salvador warned.

Pampanga PPO alone has a total of 1,246 personnel assigned to different police stations, community police assistance center (COMPAC), precincts and the rest are detailed as personal security of politicians and other VIP’s.

“The recall of PNP personnel directive is for all. No sacred cow here,” said Salvador adding that VIP’s are only allowed to two security personnel. He cited one politician whose bodyguards are more than the allowed number of police security personnel but declined to mention the name.

Salvador said he visited City of San Fernando Police Station only to be surprised. He observed that only one lady investigator was on duty at that time. “The police station is mismanaged. It’s the reason for Supt. Roland Agohob relief.

Agohob was replaced by Supt. Levi Hope Basilio.

Salvador was quick to explain that Agohob reassignment to Apalit town is not a demotion as the town is listed in Class A municipality that requires the rank of Superintendent for its chief of police. “We are putting all the resources including manpower in places where it is most needed,” Salvador explained to iorbitnews.com during interview in his office Wednesday.

Savador vows to continue with his surprise visit to different police stations in Pampanga to personally check the personnel and the police facility as well.
