PNP to intensify drive vs riding-in-tandem crimes

Pampanga police arrested a 38-year-old man and his companion at a 24-hour checkpoint in Bacolor, Pampanga, on October 20, 2024, for possession of an unlicensed firearm and multiple traffic violations. This comes as authorities move to strengthen efforts against riding-in-tandem crimes.

The arrest occurred after a concerned citizen reported two suspicious individuals on a motorcycle without a license plate and helmets. Police officers intercepted the suspects and discovered that the driver lacked a valid license, and the motorcycle was unregistered. A .45 caliber firearm with live ammunition was found in the driver’s possession, leading to their immediate arrest.

The suspects were transported to Bacolor Municipal Police Station for proper documentation, and charges are being prepared for illegal possession of firearms and traffic violations.

Pampanga Police Provincial Director, POLICE COLONEL JAY C DIMAANDAL, who witnessed the operation during an inspection, highlighted the importance of 24-hour checkpoint operations in maintaining public safety and combating criminal activities ahead of the 2025 midterm elections. Authorities are also investigating the suspects’ potential involvement in other crimes.
