Mab’t City distributes 60 metal detectors to public schools

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga — The City Schools Division Office received 60 handheld metal detectors from the city government of Mabalacat on Thursday as part of heightened security measures aimed at protecting students and teachers, following the fatal school shooting in Tacloban City that renewed concerns over campus safety.

Mayor Geld Aquino led the distribution of the security wands to school heads saying the initiative seeks to strengthen school security and reassure parents that their children are safe while in school. Aquino said the city government also plans to provide handheld metal detectors to private schools in Mabalacat as part of its broader campus safety program.
