It’s now official. Councilor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., will join the mayoralty race in the 2019 election for Angeles City’s top post thus making it an interesting fight.
“After consulting my family, my father Carmelo “Tarzan”Lazatin, I have decided to run for mayor in next year’s election in Angeles City,”
These were the words of Lazatin during the monthly Kapihan of the Pampanga Press Club at Widus Hotel. The young Lazatin will challenge other mayoralty bets such as Clark International Airport Corporation Chief Alexander Cauguiran who had declared to run for the same post and Vice Mayor Bryan Nepomuceno who is also eyeing the mayoralty post but yet to announce his intention. Businessman Irineo “Bong” Alavaro said he has commitments in the private sector but still not out of the mayoral bandwagon.
Pogi Lazatin’s father “Tarzan” is the Barangay Captain of Balibago, while his younger brother Jonjon Lazatin is the incumbent First District Congressman.
Councilor Lazatin is also considered a formidable opponent since the Lazatins have longed been in the political scene in Angeles City and Pampanga province.
It will be an interesting fight for the city’s top post now that Pogi Lazatin has joined the fray making it a battle royale.
Lazatin also bared that he will announce his running mates in the coming weeks as the selection process is still in the works. But rumors have it that former Vice Mayor Vicky Vega will make a comeback as Lazatin’s partner including Broadcaster Rudy Simeon as one of the candidates for councilor under Partido Federalismo ng Pilipinas.
Pogi Lazatin said should he be elected in next year’s polls, his program includes Education and Healthcare for the Angelenos. The best of luck to Councilor Lazatin.
