Police apprehends 12,000 quarantine violators in Central Luzon

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga (PIA) — Police apprehended over 12,000 violators as it strictly implements the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in Central Luzon.

“These individuals were arrested for violating curfew hours, drinking and smoking in prohibited places and disobedience during checkpoint operations. Of this figure, 3,300 were curfew breakers,” Police Regional Director PBGen. Rhodel Sermonia disclosed.

The official reiterated that authorities will continue to be stricter with enforcement and will keep on arresting those who violate the ECQ guidelines.

As such, Sermonia continues to appeal for public cooperation, encouraging them to stay home if they have no business going outside.

“We are doing all we can to protect everyone but we also need your cooperation to protect each other to fight the coronavirus disease (COVID-19),” he added.

ECQ, meant to curb the rising number of cases of COVID-19, will be implemented in the entire Luzon from March 17 to April 13.
