Set to become a leading brand for hotel and restaurant service, while at the same time advocating the growth of the industry as a whole, Quest Hotel and Conference Center, Clark recently launched a seminar series aimed towards students and potentially anyone who wants to learn the art and craft of Molecular Gastronomy and mixology.
Bar Manager and Liquid Chef Neil Ocampo recently hosted an Introduction to Molecular Mixology held at Charley’s, which is Quest’s hotel bar.
A total of 34 students from Angeles University Foundation’s Hotel and Restaurant Management Course came to learn new techniques and insights with regards to the practice and profession of bartending.
Neil, who is proudly Kapampangan, says that the activity is aligned with the goal to make the Kapampangan food and beverage industry stand out from the rest.
“Apart from this being an effort to spread the word about Charley’s, the series will also help academic institutions in the improvement of students’ skill sets,” Ocampo said.
Molecular mixology is the process of creating cocktails using the equipment and techniques of molecular gastronomy. It enables the creation of greater intensities and varieties of flavor, flavor combinations and different ways of presenting drinks, for example using gels, powders, and foams, as well as affecting the appearance of the cocktail.
“The program aims to teach and to inspire a new brand and breed of bartenders who would hopefully create their own signature concoctions in the future – but in a way most of them have never experienced before” he added.
