#QuestForLife: Keeping Local Tourism Alive in your Heart

“Wake up in the Philippines,” says the Tourism Department’s new campaign as foreign travels ‘may not be possible’ until the end of 2020.

This is the reality. Pandemic hit us hard. But don’t let this stop us from appreciating the wonders of our home, our Philippines. One reason not to fly with stamped passports yet we’re blessed with 7,641 island to explore with. Yes, local travel is alive.

As one of the 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene states, “find opportunity in every adversity.”

Local travel destinations are preparing to welcome you after relaxed quarantine guidelines were issued by the government. That would be after they have secured certificates to operate from DOT.

Revival of travel industry may not give us ‘what we used to’, who knows the new normal may even be more fun and safe than ever.

I don’t know. I’ve just got my passport February of this year. Not much of a traveler, but when I was all ready to, the deadly virus came. Maybe not the year for international flights. Maybe a hello to local tourism first.

As for those tourism-related establishments, farewell is out of their vocabulary.

“I have been in the industry for 23 years and this Covid Pandemic is the very first to hit me, hardly enough to seize my operation, affecting not just my business but my personal standpoint on every single issue I come across. There is no easy farewell to an industry that has molded me as a person, an industry practitioner and entrepreneur. There are countless people I have met in the tourism industry who now become my friends and family. With this pandemic, I have gained more,” said Gilda Padua of Ties that Travel and president of Zonta Club of Pampanga in her social media post.

This after Quest Plus Conference Center Clark posted about keeping local tourism’s fire alive in every Filipino’s heart.

“#LocalTourism? No problem. Philippines has 7,641 islands, of which 2,000 are inhabited. I have probably been to 20-30 of them. I am a travel agent, learning and going to places is my #QUESTFORLIFE,” Padua highlighted.

Much of her credo.

How about you, WHAT’S YOUR QUEST FOR LIFE?
