Reconstructed P29M ‘Dulong Bayan Bridge’ opens

San Joseños along with Bulacan top officials led the inaugural ceremony of the P29-million reconstructed Dulong Bayan Bridge in the City of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan on Monday afternoon.
Governor Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado and Vice Governor Daniel Fernando inaugurated the said bridge worth P29,870,112.50. The bridge will benefit commuters and motorists going to Barangay Poblacion, cutting travel time.

Alvarado reminded the San Joseños to take care of the bridge so that next generation can benefit from it as well. “It was built in 1970, there is no retrofitting technology then that’s why even the life span of this bridge is 70 years, it is completely replaced because of heavy  passage of trucks. This time, it is strong and it will take more than 70 years,” Alvarado said.

Fernando also agreed with Alvarado and emphasized the bridge is a contributing factor to the success of the city and the province.According to Engr. Glenn Reyes, head of the Provincial Engineer’s Office, the 49-year old bridge was closed for a year and was reconstructed in five months’ time.San Joseños and  local officials here  expressed their gratitude to the Provincial Government of Bulacan. The bridge was blessed by Rev. Fr. Arvin Rey Jimenez and was immediately opened for passage after the inauguration.
