TARLAC CITY –– A public hearing on the proposed conversion of the Sta. Ignacia-Guimba road via Gerona-Pura into national road was conducted at the Department of Public Works and Highways [DPWH] Tarlac First District Engineering Office in Parsolingan, Gerona, May 31.
Tarlac second district Representative Victor Yap, the principal author and sponsor of the proposed conversion [House Bill No. 6157] led the hearing with stakeholders, including Mayors Eloy Eclar of Gerona and Concepcion Zarate. Tarlac first district
Representative Charlie Cojuangco is the co-author and co-sponsor of the bill.
The bill aims to connect major government infrastructure, easy access of agricultural and commercial products to their intended markets and as an alternate route to and from Manila and the Northern provinces.
“Ito yoong isang benefit on the long term. Pagdating ng panahon, kahit na hindi na kami ang nakaupo, patuloy pa rin na magagamit ng ating mga kababayan. If ever, this will be the third measure to pass Congress,” Yap said.
The proposed road network will have a total of 25.23 kilometers.
