MACABEBE – Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda distributed relief food packs to 24 flood-affected barangays in this town yesterday, August 15.
This came shortly after the recent inspection and assessment conducted personally by the governor here and in Masantol town.
Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) records show that 10,321 families or 51,605 individuals in Macabebe were affected by the floods caused by the Southwest Monsoon.
Governor Delta was assisted by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) and PSWDO during the distribution of goods.
“Noong weekends, personal tayong pumunta rito sa bayan ng Macabebe upang malaman ang sitwasyon ng mga Cabalen natin dito. Personal natin nakita kung gaano kalala ang sitwasyon nila, kaya bumalik tayo ngayon upang maghandog ng kaunting tulong sa mga apektadong residente rito,” the governor said.
Each family received relief goods containing 5 kilos of rice, 4 pieces of sardines, and corned beef.
“Maswelu kami, lalu na ikaming pakakalulu. Maragul yang saup ini kekami, anya pasalamat ku kang Governor, sana e magbayu,” said Pacita Manlapaz, 70, beneficiary from Barangay San Rafael here.
Mayor Leonardo “Bobong” Flores, meanwhile, acknowledged the efforts given by the provincial government to his people.
“Mabuti dumating si Gov., more than ten thousand ang nangangailangan talaga ng tulong dito,” he said. “Bata pa lang ‘yan, kilala ko na ‘yan. Para sa bayan, ganyan talaga si Dennis, mapagmahal sa mga tao,” he added.
Macabebe town is known as one of the catch basins in the province. Floodwater here rises as the water from the upstream goes down. —
